At the turn of the year, the people of Vlkol\u00ednec never forgot to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the last evening of the year, they gathered for a festive service in the church, which was beautifully illuminated, much like on Christmas Eve. After the service, all the villagers exchanged blessings and wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year outside the church and along their way home.<\/span><\/p>\n

At home, a celebratory supper was served \u2013 fried dumplings with <\/span>bryndza<\/i><\/span> cheese, drizzled with butter and sprinkled with onion, washed down with sour milk.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On New Year\u2019s morning, well-wishers went around the village, offering their greetings for a happy New Year.<\/span><\/p>\n

For lunch, a traditional sour cabbage soup with noodles, smoked meat, and potatoes was served. In the afternoon, children went sledging, while adults gathered in the street to chat.
